Job Description
The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading group and individual activities designed to meet the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each participant; working closely with participants, adult day center staff and families/caregivers to support the participant, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.
Activity Coordination Responsibilities
- Coordinates activity program planning to include; developing monthly activities calendar, and individualized activity care planning.
- Sets up and operates equipment, leads games, singing, discussions, and other programmed activities; conducts exercise activities and interacts with participants on an individualized basis.
- Works with volunteers and students assigned to specific projects.
- Participates in the development of and adherence to activities program budget.
- Assures appropriate charting documentation of activity related forms and assessments
- Assists with personal care of participants to include; toileting, changing soiled clothing, personal hygiene care as needed, monitoring food and fluid intake and other activities of daily living.
- Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate and friendly manner, always maintaining the “Golden Rule” approach; practices patience and kindness.
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruits volunteers based upon the needs of the adult day center
- Maintains current files on volunteers and tracks hours assuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Conducts interviews with volunteers to identify interests, training needs, and skills.
- Ensures that newly enrolled volunteers receive required orientation, paying special attention to full and timely training specific to the volunteer’s assigned responsibilities.
- Plans and implements volunteer recognition program/s.
- Schedules and coordinates volunteer activity.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School diploma or GED
Required Experience: 2 years’ experience in a senior living setting
Preferred Experience: Older Adult programming experience
