Description
- Perform alterations involving construction repairs, renovations, fabrications and modifications of building and office surfaces.
- Performs maintenance and repair of walls, doors, frames, windows, window frames, forms, ceilings, roofs, floors, all types of framing, shelving, tables, benches, cabinets, counters, countertops and facings, signs, scaffolds, and different building components such as wood, wood substitutes, metal, Masonite board, plastics, laminates, sheet rock, paneling, etc.
- Modifies, installs, and assembles, removes or repairs structures, partitions, walls, cabinets, furniture, roofs, ceilings, and floor coverings.
- Sands, scrapes, paints, stains, varnishes shelves, cabinets and furniture as assigned.
- Install, repair, or replaces building hardware including locks, door closers, door hinges and/or stops.
- Repairs, replaces or installs roofing materials, shelves, pictures, posters, clocks, toilet paper dispensers, and other items or accessories as assigned.
- Other tasks, such as locksmith work, tile setting, masonry, painting, glazing, and cabinet making.
- Assist as needed during Snow removal
Physical Abilities Needed to Meet Work Demands:
- Work requires good dexterity and physical condition.
- Ability to climb, walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able kneel, bend, and pickup material, tools, and equipment needed to perform duties.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years experience as a Carpenter
- Experience making repairs
- Must be able and work regular schedule of : Day shift, Tuesday through Saturday 6:00am until 2:30pm.
- Must be flexible and willing and able to work other shifts or hours if needed.
Other requirements:
- Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive, if applicable for site
- License must have been valid for at least 3 years
- Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency’s insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures
- Candidates with disabilities preferred
Essential Personnel:
This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
