Job Summary

As the Technical Services and Research Supervisor, you will provide supervision and training for employees. You will maintain performance and service levels consistent with and according to company standards, the CRADL organization and client contractual requirements. Recommend new or innovative techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and maintain quality standards and liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction with technical staff’s performance.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily activities of technical services and study team comprising of research associate/ study technicians and study coordinators, ensuring all services meets organizational standards & client expectations.
  • Schedules, assign and balance workload among the technical staff for research and tech services.
  • Accommodate varying workloads and work on weekends, holidays, and evenings to meet study needs; ensure resolution of after-hours emergencies as necessary, to ensure smooth service operations and client satisfaction.
  • Meets with individuals and teams to go over study assignments and expectations.
  • Act as subject matter expert in in vivo technical skills and basic animal welfare skills, and participates in studies as needed.
  • Develops new in vivo techniques for CRO.
  • Conducts personnel training (and re-training), and maintains documentation for competency/ proficiency assessments.    
  • Functions as a primary point of contact for issues impacting the technical services, works with leadership for effective resolution.
  • Interacts with clients as required to address client inquiries and complaints.
  • Maintain an awareness of the financial status and impacts of ongoing studies.
  • Proactive resolution of operational and quality issues; continuously guiding and training staff to improve processes, and operational efficiencies. 
  • Ensure in vivo study applications are performed in accordance with currently defined protocols and in a manner consistent with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and all local, state, and federal requirements. 
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of accurate study records, and delivery of study data to clients.
  • Operate and maintain equipment and supplies needed to effectively operate the technical and research services program in vivarium facilities. 

The pay range for this position is $90-105K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Job Qualifications

  • Education:  Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in animal or laboratory science, business, or related discipline.
  • Experience:  Minimum four (4) years in the laboratory animal industry of which two (2) years is supervisory or lead technician experience. 
  • Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG) preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
