Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to join our Insourcing Solutions team supporting our site in Hamilton, MT.
As the Technical Trainer you will develop, deliver, document, and report technical skills training programs involving both small and large laboratory animal species in accordance with client’s facility SOPs, Charles River policy and applicable Federal regulations.
Additional responsibilities:
Responsible for the delivery of technical, husbandry and cagewash training for all staff, to include initial, ongoing and refresher.
Perform continuing education and training to maintain and enhance employee skills and capabilities, including SOP or ASP revisions, animal welfare topics, operations and maintenance, and technical advancements.
Coordinate training schedules with the hiring and training demands of the sites.
Provide didactic and hands-on technical training on SOPs. Monitor technical methods used by employees and make on the spot corrections.
Ensure completion of training documentation/summaries. Route where needed. Maintain up to date electronic and paper records.
Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
Work with management to develop adjunct training team members to be qualified trainers in specific job functions and or topics.
Identify and make recommendations on improving procedures in the animal facilities, to include identifying SOPs for revision.
Perform quality assurance responsibilities for the facilities to include the continual monitoring of staff past the proficiency point to verify continual compliance to SOPs and to monitor for drift, and to monitor on trends identified through the QA/QC audits/reviews.
Assist in developing/maintaining/updating training matrices and syllabus. Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops.
Provide technical support, animal husbandry, and assist with research procedures as needed.
Job Qualifications
The following are minimum requirements related to the Technical Trainer position:
Education: HS diploma. Bachelor of Science degree or Associate of Arts degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent college level program desired.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years related predominately to lab animal husbandry and technical experience. Minimum of five (5) years in a training role with a focus on training with various lab animal species on husbandry and technical procedures.
Certification/Licensure: Not required. AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification preferred.
The hourly range for this position is $32-35 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
