The Behavioral Health Talent Academy (BHTA) Peer Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of peer services staff and activities at the BHTA, which trains Peers to provide authentic peer support services that foster holistic recovery for Central City Concern clients.
The Peer Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and supporting the day-to-day operations of the BHTA, and for the individual and group supervision of Academy students working towards professional peer credentials. This position provides expertise in navigating MHACBO certification requirements, working collaboratively with all Academy learners, CCC staff, and community partners. This position will work as a trainer and member of the BHTA Team providing meaningful learning and development opportunities for aspiring peers. The Peer Supervisor is an expert in low-barrier harm reduction interventions for vulnerable community members seeking stabilization, safety, formal behavioral health treatment services, connection, and multiple pathways to individually meaningful recovery support.
This position requires independent decision-making, program planning, budgetary compliance, staff supervision, and being a liaison with community partners. The Peer Supervisor provides team leadership and facilitates the development of Peer Services at Central City Concern.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- CRM or PSS required.
- (Must be registered with MHACBO as a CRM or Must be a certified Peer Support Specialist and be registered as a Traditional Health Worker with the THW registry.)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience providing peer-delivered services as a Certified Recovery Mentor or Peer Support Specialist.
- Two years supervisory experience preferred, or demonstration of previous leadership experience.
- Must have CPR training and certification.
- Must embrace the mission and philosophy of harm reduction and client-centered treatment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
- The OAR prohibits A&D program staff from having within the previous 3 years a DUI conviction or diversion, a felony conviction, or a conviction under the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
- Must adhere to agency nondiscrimination policies.
- If using a vehicle for agency use, must possess a current driver’s license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an Acceptable Driver as designated in Central City Concern’s Fleet Safety policy. Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training. Must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Pre-treatment program services are practiced according to the highest professional and ethical standards; ensure that the health and safety needs of clients are met.
- Coordinate with BHTA staff to ensure that daily activities for learners are planned, implemented, and coordinated with the team.
- Facilitate regular Peer Services team meetings and develop agenda to include training topics, community partners, and relevant information sharing across CCC teams.
- Model safe language and demonstrate appropriate boundaries with peers and clients. Intervene and provide support when staff or clients are unsafe with language or behaviors.
- Ensure that CCC policies, procedures and expected practices are implemented, maintained, and followed.
- Work to increase staff cultural sensitivity, awareness and competency.
- Identify and coordinate staff training needs and ensure the team remains committed to a harm reduction model.
- Promote shared understanding of Peer Services at CCC and role clarity for peer professionals across programs.
- Assist CCC leadership to develop a cohesive Peer Services philosophy of care.
- Review documentation to ensure that services delivered are clinically appropriate and effective.
- Review and appropriately identify level of follow-up needed with critical incident reports.
- Respond to client grievances.
- Represent Central City Concern Pre-treatment program in the greater community.
- Provide regular bi-weekly supervision with all BHTA Peer learners, offering additional supervision whenever necessary.
- Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners’ and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.

- Knowledge, education, training, skills, and experience in providing services in a highly diverse work environment to a highly diverse and mostly homeless population.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and Harm Reduction. Demonstrated knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Anti-Racist clinical practice.

- Have the necessary computer skills to accomplish duties.
- Sufficient advancement in personal recovery to appropriately facilitate clients’ in theirs. Recognizing and supporting an individual’s person preferences in how they support their recovery.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, lift heavy objects, and climb stairs several times a day.
- Timely completion of supervision notes.
- Manage emotions and feelings in an appropriate and professional manner. Ask for help when needed.
