The Blackburn Center is an innovative program that will offer integrated housing, health care, and employment services with the long term goal of eliminating homelessness. We seek to change how these services are delivered to all people, especially vulnerable populations.

This position will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team at the Blackburn Center to deliver comprehensive, person-centered, integrated services to the Portland Eastside community. The Blackburn Center Environmental Services Associate is responsible for the janitorial services of the Blackburn Center, an integrated health services and housing facility. This position is an integral member of the facilities team and is an integral member of the facilities team and reports directly to the Blackburn Facilities Operations Manager (FOM) for daily operational matters, performance and services oversight, as well as matters requiring collaboration, optimization, scheduling and coordination.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Blackburn Center is a community of caregivers delivering every day on our mission of ending homelessness and providing accessibility to affordable care.
  • Environmental services team members are responsible for cleaning all areas of the BBC to provide sanitary, orderly, and an attractive environment.
  • Environmental services team members must provide attention to detail, be a team player, and have a strong interest in serving all BBC clients, patients, residents, and visitors.
  • Perform all necessary and required janitorial services included in the janitorial specifications as and when scheduled, directed or otherwise necessary.
  • Perform cleaning services for common areas including lobbies, hallways, entrance areas and breakrooms. Daily Services include vacuuming high traffic areas, sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping emptying trach cans and replacing liners, spot cleaning stains and spills (including bio-hazard) on all surfaces. Weekly services include detailed wall-to-wall vacuuming, spot cleaning walls and cleaning glass surfaces and doors. Monthly services include detailed high and low dusting and annual services include furniture cleaning twice per year. Schedule of services are typical and subject to change.
  • Perform cleaning services for restrooms. Daily services include sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping emptying trach cans and replacing liners, spot cleaning stains and spills on all surfaces (including bio-hazard). Clean and disinfect sinks, waste receptacles, baby stations and mirrors. Weekly services include spot cleaning of walls and partitions and monthly services include washing partitions, detailed high dusting and deep cleaning of floors. Schedule of services are typical and subject to change.
  • Perform cleaning services for office, conference room and meeting spaces. Daily services include vacuuming high traffic areas, sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, emptying trach cans and replacing liners, spot cleaning stains and spills on all surfaces (including bio-hazard). Weekly services include detailed low dusting, detailed wall-to-wall vacuuming, damp mopping of hard surface floors, spot cleaning walls and cleaning glass surfaces and doors. Monthly services include detailed high dusting annual services include quarterly dusting of blinds and window sill and furniture cleaning twice per year. Schedule of services are typical and subject to change.
  • Perform cleaning services for exam rooms, clinical and lab space and pharmacy. Daily services include vacuuming high traffic areas, detailed wall-to-wall vacuuming, sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, emptying trach cans and replacing liners, clean and sanitize horizontal surfaces including exam tables, carts, countertops, toilets and sinks, clean furniture, check and fill glove, soap and towel dispensers, spot cleaning stains and spills on all surfaces (including bio-hazard) and clean monitors, lights, computer towers and beds. Weekly services include detailed low dusting, spot cleaning walls and cleaning glass surfaces and doors. Monthly services include detailed high dusting annual services include quarterly dusting of blinds and window sill and furniture cleaning twice per year. Schedule of services are typical and subject to change.
  • Assist with hard and/or deep cleaning as and when directed. Service may include stripping and waxing of hard surface floors, spray buffing of tile and stone floor surfaces and deep carpet cleaning.
  • Clean sidewalks and other outside public areas as and when assigned.
  • Clean sidewalks, pressure wash exterior surfaces and other public areas of the clinical and office portions for Blackburn Center as and when assigned.
  • Maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Adhere to all standards and specifications for clinical janitorial needs.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork as and when assigned and necessary to complete job duties.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Support other functions of Blackburn Center as and when assigned.
  • Provide support to all facilities and environmental services within the BBC care continuum, including unit-turns, as requested.
  • Work as a member of the Blackburn Center multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, client centered and trauma informed integrated services.
  • Build understanding of and appreciation for diversity among Blackburn Center clients and support their connection to culturally responsive and culturally specific services as requested.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners’ and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.
  • Attend all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as and when assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to consider the impacts and outcomes for underserved communities during decision-making processes.
  • Ability to consider impacts of systems of oppression, structural racism, and individual bias on client outcomes.
  • Ability to interact with vulnerable individuals seeking services and act with compassion and empathy towards those we serve.
  • Ability to safely and properly use cleaning agents such as soap, polish, disinfectants, etc.
  • Ability to identify bio-hazard situations and clean in accordance with Blackburn Center policies and procedures and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Ability to learn how to safely and properly operate various cleaning equipment, i.e. extractors, buffers, power washers, vacuums, steam cleaners.
  • Ability to learn how to safely and properly operate various cleaning equipment, i.e. extractors, buffers, power washers, vacuums, steam-cleaners.
  • Ability to learn applicable safety policies and procedures, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and the ability to apply workplace and job-site safety standards.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical usage and application of chemicals specific to pest control and bio-hazard clean ups.
  • Ability to identify bio-hazard situations and clean in accordance with Blackburn Center policies and procedures and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Ability to learn and apply training instruction.
  • Ability to do overhead work.
  • Ability to interact courteously with the general public on the telephone and in person.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written and oral instruction.
  • Ability to work in all adverse weather conditions including but not limited to rain, wind, heat, cold, snow, and ice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED or be actively pursuing.
  • Must have at least six months experience in interior and exterior janitorial cleaning.
  • Must have experience in floor care - stripping, waxing, buffing and carpet cleaning.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform duties.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal business hours (swing shift, overnight, weekends, evenings.)
  • Must have the ability to work in areas of the Blackburn Center and outside locations.
  • May be required to carry a CCC issued smart phone and abide by CCC’s phone policies.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and DHS background check.
