Pay Rate: Starting at $38.00 per hour
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Registered Nurse PRN who will assess, plan, intervene and evaluate. Provides nursing care as needed within the Family Services Division. May be assigned to St. Vincent Villa Residence, Villa Maria Schools, The Center for Family Services Foster Care Programs, Villa Maria Health Home or to Head Start programs. In an emergency maybe asked to assist at any CC location. Primary nursing care is provided to child clients with emotional and behavioral difficulty. Limited employee health responsibility. First Aid to staff and volunteers and visitors. The work schedule can be 6:00am-2:30pm or 2:00pm-10:00pm.
St. Vincent’s Villa provides comprehensive residential treatment for children, ages 5-13, whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to community based interventions and services.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respects children's and family's rights by recognizing the dignity of each individual and maintaining the confidentiality of all client information.
- Maintains the environment of care by complying with therapeutic standards, risk management policy, and procedures for maintaining client safety.
- Contributes to Performance Improvement at the individual, department, and agency levels.
- Accurately applies knowledge of treatment approaches appropriate to the physical and developmental age of clients served.
- Understands and applies policies and procedures for infection control.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland in good standing.
- Current adult and pediatric CPR certification required, American Heart Association Instructor certification preferred.
- Able to accurately utilize medical record system.
- RN: Active Maryland Registered Nurse license in good standing; Current valid driver's license with three points or less; Current adult and pediatric CPR certification (AHA certification preferred)
- RNII: Active Maryland Registered Nurse license in good standing; Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN); Current valid driver's license with three points or less; Current adult and pediatric CPR certification (AHA certification preferred)
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of nursing practices including first aid, medication administration protocols, CPR, infection control protocols.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medications and normal growth and development among children ages 3-15 and adults.
- Knowledge of Md. State and CDC guidelines/mandates for immunization. Familiarity with health care resources.
- Organized. Able to think critically. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to be understood in person and on the phone speaking English. Ability to write well in English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Involves high risk of exposure to communicable and infectious disease requiring stringent adherence to infection control procedures.
- May be exposed to resistant or aggressive client behavior requiring ability to implement crisis intervention and therapeutic holds.
- Requires ability to stand /walk / run / move equipment or items such as a medical cart for up to 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to help lift children and adolescents and staff (using body mechanics)
- Must be able to help evacuate building and keep clients safe.
