Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 (commensurate with experience)

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Director, Planned and Major Giving, who will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of major and planned giving fundraising efforts to maximize philanthropic support. The hybrid work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (3 days in the office / 2 days at home).
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works directly with the Chief Development Officer to create a development vision and strategy that will meet and exceed fundraising goals.
- Supervises and mentors a major gift officer and serves as a resource for integrating planned giving into major gift strategies where necessary and appropriate.
- Conducts 60 or more virtual or in-person visits or substantive prospect actions each year, managing a portfolio of approximately 80-100 major and planned giving prospects.
- Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local tax and legal issues related to charitable giving.
- Interacts with prospective donors and their financial counsel, evaluates donor's financial circumstances, utilizes planned giving software to create and present gift proposals that suggest options for donors to accomplish their financial and philanthropic objectives.
- Develops and executes a comprehensive marketing plan to encourage donors to consider planned gifts options as part of their philanthropy, including direct mail, newsletters, email, website presence, and estate planning seminars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with planned and major gifts.
- Minimum three years of management experience with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Knowledge of planned giving techniques and of estate, gift, and income tax law with the ability to clearly articulate to planned giving prospects, donors, volunteers, and fundraising colleagues.
- Experience with planned giving software such as Crescendo or PG Calc.
- Proven track record in managing relationships and securing major and planned gifts.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and analytical skills.
- Ability to utilize fundraising database, preferably Raiser’s Edge, in documenting progress with donors and leading a data-driven approach to increase philanthropic support. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Intermittent sitting, standing, bending, and the ability to move freely throughout the buildings including using stairs, travel between the office and nearby locations in a timely and efficient manner.
