Carmel Partners, one of the nation’s leading specialists in real estate investment management, with expertise in the investment, development, and construction of multi-family real estate, is seeking a Data Science & Research Intern for the summer of 2024.
The Intern will be responsible for assisting our team of analysts in the development and predictive analytics models, including rent growth and asset valuation at the market and neighborhood levels. Support research and leverage of potentially innovative datasets and proprietary forecast modeling frameworks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn and experience the real estate development and investment industry.
What you’ll do
- Assist our team of Analysts in the development and predictive analytics models, including rent growth and asset valuation at the market and neighborhood level
- Research and leverage potentially innovative datasets that can strengthen the company’s proprietary forecast modeling framework
- Conduct geospatial analytics and translate granular project-specific results into actionable visualizations via interactive dashboard and mapping frameworks
- Create compelling presentations of analytical work developed by the Data Science team, to communicate our results to both internal and external partners.
What you’ll bring
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Data or Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related field incorporating quantitative research methods with a strong record of academic achievement
- Strong academic experience in applied data analytics, machine learning and/or econometrics
- Proficiency a functional combination of Python, R, SQL, and some of the primary analytics packages (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, ggplot2, dplyr)
- Experience with spatial analysis is a plus, including libraries such as Python’s geopandas, R’s sf package, or ArcGIS
- Excellent analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Team player with a commitment to excellence and a high level of integrity
Key Program Components:
- Location: San Francisco Regional Office
- Program starts June 2024; Approximately 10 weeks duration
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
Compensation
The compensation is $25-$30 per hour. The Company provides this compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it, in good faith, believes it might pay and/or offer for this position.
