Registered Nurse, Women's Emergency Department:

Women & Infants Emergency Department provides 24-hour care to women needing urgent and emergent medical or surgical care. With the opening of a new women’s medical surgical unit at Women & Infants, the emergency department will not only serve as an obstetric triage unit and provide a unique level of acute care in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, but it will also have expanded services to meet the needs of all women presenting with medical surgical conditions as seen in a traditional emergency department setting. The emergency department at Women & Infants will be staffed with emergency room physicians and nurses, obstetricians, nurse practitioners and nurse midwives. With this exciting new expansion, nurses in our emergency department will be able to identify medical emergencies, triage and determine severity and provide immediate support to ensure the best possible outcomes for all our patients.

Job Summary: Registered Nurses are responsible for providing nursing care to patients and their families in accordance with the American Nurse's Association Standards of Professional Nursing Practice. The Registered Nurse is expected to provide primary nursing care for patients and to assume responsibility for other nursing care process by assessment, plan of care, intervention, and evaluation. Emergency Department nurses are expected to identify medical emergencies, triage and determine severity and provide immediate support and interventions.

Specifications:

  • Must have and maintain current licensure in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Maintains CPR/ACLS/NRP and any other credentials or certifications necessary to be competent as a Registered Nurse in an area of specialty.
  • Must be able to lift a patient (with assistance) and help them into a chair, wheelchair or stretcher and be able to transport patients in wheelchairs or on stretchers.
  • Must be proficient in the English language.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of med surg RN experience in a hospital environment.
