Job Summary:
The Providence Center Clinical Therapist will provide therapy services for children ages 12 to 21 with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders in DCYF as a part of the enhanced Teen Assertive Community Treatment Team (TACT) which serves clients and their families throughout RI area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Will assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide treatment and supportive services to children with mental health issues and their families. Services will be provided in the community.
Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program.
Coordinate services for consumers to minimize stressors and to facilitate the reduction of psychiatric and substance abuse disorder symptoms.
Encourage consumers to attain the highest possible levels of independence through providing outpatient psychotherapy either at The Center or in the community.
Requirements:
Master of Social Work degree or other Master's degree in a clinical specialty, as well as relevant experience with substance abuse and serious mental illness.
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before team members and other employees and have the capacity to work with other community agencies.
Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of children with mental health issues, their families, and family systems.
Knowledge of community resources or ability to learn quickly as well as good organizational, time management and communication skills.
Ability to work well with community partners and in a team environment is essential.
Highly motivated, self-directed, willing to work a variety of hours, including evening and on-call.
