Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for driving profitability, improving the guest experience and enhancing operations of Canterbury Park’s Food and Beverage Department.  Provides leadership and direct oversight for front and back of house food and beverage operations for the 24/7 gaming space, seasonal live racing program and ongoing events and entertainment calendar.  Responsible for supporting the Companies mission, vision, and values by providing fun and games like no place else, and adheres to the Canterbury Way by focusing on our core values.

  • Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and coaches and mentors direct reports for growth opportunities.
  • Provides direct oversight to Food and Beverage front of house and back of house operations.
  • Create and implement food and beverage programs designed to drive revenue, enhance guest experience and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Identifies opportunities to increase profits and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation and driving change.
  • Controls labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, loss prevention and inventory management without compromising guest or employee satisfaction.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with direct reports and entire food & beverage team and ensures effective communication within and across departments.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures and key performance metrics for food and beverage outlets.
  • Responsible for continual enhancement of overall guest experience and customer service standards across food and beverage operations.
  • Ensures that Canterbury Park is in compliance with all Health Department regulations, liquor service policies, and internal controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Food and Beverage / Hospitality Management related field.
  • 8+ years’ experience leading food and beverage operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in POS system software, word and excel
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
  • Canterbury Park conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
  • Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a casino gaming environment.
