Per Diem
Special education services are provided in the home/community settings
Flexible hours on both the North and South Shores of Long Island
Qualifications:
- New York State Certification in Special Education (Grades B-2) required.
- Knowledge of early childhood education and child development required through completion of a Master’s Degree in Special Education.
- Prior early childhood special education teaching experience required (minimum one year to plan individual education plans to meet the special needs of each child). ABA knowledge and experience required.
Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Implement curriculum based on child's individualized academic, social, and behavioral needs.
- Plan daily lessons and activities based on IEP goals. Attend CPSE meetings, as necessary, to coordinate therapeutic and educational interventions either by teleconference or on-site at school district.
- Communicate with parents in writing, by phone, and in person regarding child’s progress.
- Address behavioral needs through the use of positive reinforcement and behavior management plans.
- Data collection on IEP goals and treatment log notes for weekly sessions.
- Submit progress reports and report cards on each child quarterly.
- Complete annual progress reports for each child including current levels of performance and recommended goals for upcoming school year.
- Provide or adapt materials to facilitate language and speech production in the home/classroom.
- Integrate information and strategies offered by team members and other professionals.
- Ensure health and safety of home/classroom environment.
