Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for creation and maintenance of IT technical documentation across a wide variety of content platforms. Work with Development, Quality Assurance and Technical Support to produce a wide variety of technical publications including instructional materials, technical manuals, product documentation, marketing collateral and the like for use by both the IT and business community.

Review, critique, and edit documentation including design documents, programmer notes and system overviews. Maintenance of internal documentation library, providing and/or coordinating special documentation services as required, and oversight of special projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Translates technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences including customers and internal users. Preparing content for websites and newsletters 
  • Interviews subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization. Research information such as drawings, design reports, equipment and test specifications to fill any gaps. 
  • Prepare technical content for web sites, newsletters and online training modules. 
  • Copyediting printed and online materials 
  • Writing business requirements and process documentation 
  • Creating test plans, workflow diagrams, and logical data flow diagrams 
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work.
  • Requires knowledge of company product lines and document structure. 
  • Depending on the industry/work environment, such documents may include various media, including written and video.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the information technology environment/infrastructure and be able to effectively document processes and procedures, with the work. 
  • Must be able to understand complex interrelated information needs across multiple information technology platforms.
  • Must have strong organizational and project management skills and excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Must be able to effectively analyze and solve the more difficult and complex work related problems by using past experience, research, and best practice information. 
  • Able to lead feasibility studies that produce useful recommendations.
  • Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. 
  • Able to explain programs, policies and procedures in language that is understood by others.
  • Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted. 
  • Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer. 
  • Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed.
  • Additional job requirements may be listed on the staffing requisition.
  • Knowledge of the following languages/programs are preferred: C# .Net framework, Microsoft SQL, Wiki / Markdown, Xml, Azure DevOps.

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $74,600- $132,500. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
