Position Purpose:
Manages the Maintenance, Outage Planning, and Reliability staff. Provides leadership and responsibility for safe and cost effective execution of preventative, day-to-day, and outage maintenance activities for a large hazardous waste incineration facility. Ensure maximum plant availability through the implementation and use of reliability principles and optimal asset management.
Primary Duties/responsibilities:
- Manages major annual plant turnaround events with activities including planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, procurement, and execution at the facility in the most cost effective manner.
- Manage multi-skilled maintenance team and subcontractors.
- Together with the Operations management team the Maintenance Manager will ensure safe work practices, technical verification of work and system integrity during the daily operations of the facility
- Effectively practice Reliability Based Management that will allow optimum uptime for the incinerator complex including overall program planning and evaluation of effectiveness of risked based reliability activities that impact incinerator operations.
- Oversee CMMS program to verify adherence to best practices and compliance with corporate CMMS program.
- Interact with internal and external customers pertaining to new and ongoing projects.
- Develop and manage the department’s budget including effectively managing costs related to all site maintenance related activities and purchases
- Develop and maintain quality assurance (QA) testing and validation requirements for equipment.
- Ensure the implementation of maintenance procedures and training programs such that maintenance employees are qualified to troubleshoot and maintain equipment and that skill level is continually improving.
- Interfaces with customers and regulators during facility audits, inspections, etc.
- Supports PSM Team and other regulatory functions
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
- 15+ years work experience: hazardous waste industry or large utility/industrial plant experience preferred
- Prior work experience in high reliability environments, plant operations or related field
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge in mechanical methodologies, data compilation, implementation and evaluation of resulting improvements
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a group of 25 or more employees
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Organized, detailed oriented, analytical, proactive, energetic, problem solver
- Proficient knowledge in Oracle Primavera P-6 scheduling tool
- Solid understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques, including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program
- Ability to manage $25 million budget and solid understanding of financial (cost/benefit) analysis
- Solid understanding of the troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment common to large industrial facilities.
- Skills such as Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
