Job Description

As an Associate Director in the alliance management team, you will help establish, execute, and drive toward successful partnerships with external BioPharma companies. You will be the primary point of contact between Guardant Health and external BioPharma customers and ensure internal teams are aligned with partner requirements as contracted. You will excel at working cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Bioinformatics, Laboratory Operations, Clinical Trial Operations, IT, Finance, and Client Services to deliver on-time and quality results. 

In this role you will manage retrospective and prospective studies (including companion diagnostic studies), to ensure partner expectations are properly defined, contracted, and managed. You will be expected to lead regular governance and check-in meetings with biopharma partners and present clear and concise business updates. You will also identify strategic opportunities to grow the partnership with key accounts and work with the Business Development team members to realize these business opportunities.

This role will encompass the need to champion internal strategic initiatives to improve processes and efficiency of the service we deliver to the partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the alliance lifecycle, including strategic and day-to-day operating activities with assigned partners.
  • Form and lead implementation teams while working internally with key stakeholders to meet milestones and deliverables according to the partnership agreement.
  • Plan and coordinate contractual implementation activities between the internal project team and external partner stakeholders. Administer the governance structure of the relationship.
  • Assess alliance health and work to strengthen individual and organizational relationships between the companies.
  • Serve as the primary point of communication for partners and facilitate efficient and effective communication with the partner.
  • Ensure partner needs are communicated internally and addressed appropriately.
  • Identify areas of discordant expectations between organizations and works to resolve them. Escalate internal or external issues that could damage partnership health or cause a missed milestone/deliverable to ensure resolution.
  • Seek to understand cultural similarities and differences between organizations and use the knowledge to improve working mechanisms between teams.
  • Monitor results against key performance indicators and communicate results internally. Identify opportunities to generate new or unforeseen value from a partnership.
  • Work with manager to develop and improve processes related to the alliance management function.

Qualifications

You bring experiences in relationship management and development of diagnostics and/or companion diagnostics. You have played a leading role in answering the needs of the clients and managing partnerships. You have been able to manage complex projects, identify conflict, and ensure the cross-functional teams arrive at a creative solution in an agreeable manner by all parties. You also have the ability to integrate current procedures and obtain buy-in from all impacted partners. You have an understanding of the clinical development process and application of companion diagnostics for drug development.

You have:

  • Advanced degree in Biology or Business (MS/PhD or MBA) preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of work experience in partnerships or account management, preferably in the pharma or diagnostics space
  • Strong focus on analytical and problem solving, communication and organizational skills
  • Level of comfort with statistical concepts and customer management databases (Eg. SalesForce).
  • Willing to travel for about 10% of the time
  • Experience with companion diagnostics partnership best practices and operating under GCP/GCLP environment preferred

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $147,800 to $199,600. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
