Job Description

AECOM East Water group is seeking  Senior Engineering Manager – Construction Managers.   Positions are located in our New York  and Clifton, New Jersey offices. The candidate should have experience in the construction of heavy civil works and mechanical and electrical systems.  Senior Engineering Manager - Construction Manager  will oversee a staff of twelve resident engineers and construction inspectors, interact with program schedulers and safety personnel, coordinate with other consultant resident engineers and inspectors on multiple projects and coordinates with the various project design consultants on design issues. 

The responsibilities of this position also include, but are not limited to:

  • The ideal candidate  will also interact with the project contractors to assure compliance with design documents, lead change order negotiations as required, oversee the approvals of monthly pay applications and lead in the resolution of construction issues in a timely manner. 
  • Lead the Quality Assurance, Construction/ Construction Quality Assurance effort on the project. 
  • Primary responsibilities will include managing the activities of a multi- overall project management for, scheduling, familiarity with job cost reporting, and budget control activities through the life of the project, including EAC analysis during on-site construction as prime contracting entity.
  • Fiscal Experience – Proven project management skills to delivery projects at or under budget and on schedule.  Working knowledge of job accounting and reporting methods such as earned value and estimates to complete.
  • Team Oriented – This position requires the skill set to directly oversee and manage detailed engineering and construction teams working collaboratively together to deliver the project
  • Review of monthly client Reports
  • Approves correspondence related to construction and identifies key issues regarding disputed work, delays, additional and supplemental work, and non-conforming work; and
  • Ensures that safety monitoring activities within the Program’s scope of work are being accomplished.
  • Final review and authorization of contractor payments including confirmation of Prevailing Wage interviews with trades.
  • Responsible for review and resolution and/or approval of Inspector and Contractor reporting, forms, testing, compliance and coordination issues
  • Monitoring and reporting on the contractor activities during the performance of the work to determine if the work is being constructed in accordance with the contract documents
  • Primary receiver and reviewer of responses for all project correspondence. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil/Environmental/ Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience, in water/wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Must be a licensed professional engineer in New York for position based in New York
  • Minimum 2 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Must have managed at least one project valued over $100 million.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates who are currently a registered Professional Engineer in the State of New Jersey or can obtain through reciprocity, is highly preferred.
  • CMAA Certification.

Offered rate of compensation (New York City locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $197,000 - 230,000.
