Job Description
The Wellness Specialist is responsible for providing patients who have a substance abuse and/or dependence diagnosis or other co-occurring diagnosis a safe holistic, organized yoga, reiki, and exercise program.
Responsibilities
The duties listed below reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
- Lead patients through organized group yoga and exercises classes and/or reiki services.
- Instructs patients on safe, effective exercise to promote well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
- Visually assess patients to determine their level of ability.
- Assist patients to achieve precise alignment.
- Demonstrate practice and techniques.
- Transform energy during the warm-up, build-up, and cool-down stages.
- Motivate patients with words of encouragement.
- Connect with patients during the yoga classes through fun, intelligent sequencing.
- Utilize pool facilities to provide organized water aerobics.
- Conduct self in a professional, courteous manner conducive to Brookdale’s mission and vision.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred.
- Current Yoga or Exercise Instructor certification.
- Certification in Reiki, preferred.
- Current CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
