Job Description

The Regional Category Manger – Data will develop and implement regional data strategy for the data category and its sub-categories in collaboration with the Global Category Director – Data. They will proactively plan and lead global category initiatives and ensure a robust approach to supplier management exists. The Regional Category Manager will develop innovation programs, manage supplier risks, participate in regular business reviews and will establish value creation targets. They will lead proactive sourcing projects, supplier development activities, specification definition, demand management as well as monitor supplier performance with data suppliers in their region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy Development:

§ Develop the ‘big picture’ to create the category strategy

§ Map relevant stakeholders for the respective category strategy

§ Establish core team/ resource requirements for category

§ Oversee research and data analysis for category

§ Challenge current working practices, specifications and demands for category

§ Develop category strategy with stakeholders

§ Sell category sourcing strategy to senior stakeholders

§ Manage tender process for category

§ Ensure relevant options are communicated effectively

§ Communicate and review category strategy, as required

§ Ensure business cases are created as and when required

Contract Development:

§ Create negotiation plan and negotiate with suppliers

§ Ensure adherence to signing authorities

§ Communicate contract to relevant stakeholders

Supplier Development:

§ Conduct regular performance reviews with preferred suppliers

§ Create continuous improvement plan with preferred suppliers

§ Develop alternative suppliers

§ Develop and implement contract KPI’s

Contract Lifecycle Management

§ Ensure compliance (i.e. restricted party screening, financial checks, conflict of interest checks, forced labour, embargoed countries, etc.)

§ Ensure local compliance to Global contracts

Leadership

§ Effectively communicate and liaise with stakeholders and 3rd parties

§ Organize team members and delegate responsibilities and ensure team empowerment

§ Coach junior team members

§ Deploy resources effectively to manage projects and tasks

§ Measure individual performance and provide timely and open feedback

§ Support team in development plans

Technical Skills

§ Well-developed communication and relationship management skills, able to build, influence and challenge relationships

§ Strong presentation and influencing skills

§ Strong experience in demand management, sourcing and negotiations

§ Excellent conceptual thinking skills combined with the ability to drive results

§ Able to manage conflicts and difficult people

§ Able to provide innovative solutions to complex problems, flexible and responsive to changing customer needs

§ Excellent project management skills, used to prioritise own work-load and deliver procurement of goods and services effectively

§ Ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines

§ Strong leadership capabilities and ability to coach and mentor team members

§ Project management experience and the ability to lead cross matrix teams as required

§ Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills

§ Proficient in MS Office

Qualifications

Qualifications:

§ Bachelors degree or relevant work experience

§ 7+ years work experience in a regional procurement role with a focus on relevant categories

§ Understanding of key sourcing processes and tools as well as contractual and legal aspects

§ Strong preference for professional procurement qualifications

§ Proven financial and business acumen and capability in negotiation, change management and stakeholder management
