Responsibilities
- Directs staff engaged in providing academic, vocational, and employability training for all students and ensures that departmental programs meet all Department of Labor, and Company requirements
- Ensures adequate instructional programming and professional level instruction is given to trainees in mathematics, reading, workplace communication, wellness, General Education Diploma, diversity, Drivers Education, and all vocational areas
- Observes classes and monitors effectiveness of classroom management. (One formal Education and one formal Collaborative Team Teaching class observation per month). Provides direction for applied academics Directs all phases of California Department of Social Services System
- Submits required reports outlining progress, problems, and contemplated changes in the Education, Vocation and California Department of Social Services departments
- Meets weekly with education and vocation managers to plan strategies for improvement. Coordinates development of appropriate Standard Operating Procedures and center Career Development Services System Plan
- Counsels trainees as appropriate
- Regularly spot-checks classes
- Communicates with and visits parents and local agencies as needed
- Assists in development of community relationships, as needed
- Reviews Center/OMS reports and reconciles appropriately. Develops corrective action plans as needed
- Reviews attendance sheets for accuracy of documentation. Decrease number unexcused absence three to five percent per quarter from previous year
- Makes Case Notes in Computer Information System when situation warrants. Monitors weekly Company reports and develops corrective action plans, as needed. Notifies Career Development of apparent deficiencies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years related experience in education
- Experience working with youth
- Leadership and management experience required
- Bachelor's degree in education from a four-year college or university required
- Master's degree in education preferrred
