Opportunities for growth. Therapists and Counselors are supported in obtaining and maintaining clinical licensure through in-house clinical supervision and reimbursement for licensure fees. We encourage a healthy work/life balance by keeping schedules flexible and caseloads low, with a focus on quality of engagement and services over quantity of billable hours. We offer a generous paid leave package that includes two weeks of paid vacation in the first year (increasing over your tenure to more than five weeks per year), plus two weeks of paid sick time, two additional floating holidays, eleven paid holidays, and a paid winter break between Christmas and New Year's each year.

The Choose 2 Change Therapist provides clinical services to adolescents in the Chicago Public School system aimed at reducing youth violence. Group Therapists in this revolutionary Choose 2 Change program provide trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy in individual and group settings using the SPARCS (Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress) model, complete client assessments, develop strengths-based service plans, document services using a web-based client services platform, and coordinate service referrals with appropriate external providers. This is a primarily school-based position that includes some community-based and home-based services, and targets students who are at-risk of engaging in violence or disconnecting from their communities.

Candidate qualifications:  

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or a closely related field, required.
  • LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT, OR eligibility for clinical licensure within 2-3 years, required.
  • Experience with an evidence-based or evidence-informed treatment modality, such as SPARCS, Theraplay, the ARC framework, or other trauma-informed practice preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
  • Excellent relationship building and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of their vaccination status before their start date unless they have an agency approved medical or religious exemption.  

Job details:  

  • Compensation:  Range starts at $50,000 for licensure eligible Therapists and $56,000 for LCPC/LCSW Therapists. Offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates receive additional financial compensation.
  • Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3+ weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here).
  • Clinical licensure: Therapists receive weekly clinical supervision, and reimbursement of clinical exam registration fees.
  • Location: Hybrid (school-based/office-based/remote). Therapy services provided in Chicago schools or at assigned agency office (5958 S. Marshfield Ave.), or via telehealth. Therapists may work from the office or a remote/home location between client visits.
  • Schedule:  Full-time, salaried; general business hours with some flexibility for evening appointments as needed to accommodate client schedules.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
