The Maintenance Technician will be an essential member of the Brightline’s Shared Services Maintenance Team, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Brightline’s track, structures, stations, and facilities infrastructure.
The Maintenance Team will ensure Brightline’s infrastructure remains in excellent condition by performing ongoing infrastructure maintenance and construction activities.
The Maintenance Technician will champion achievement of Brightline's goals with respect to safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
Essential Functions:
- Perform maintenance operations including but not limited to landscaping, brush cutting, painting, pressure washing, window washing, fence repairs, and regular track maintenance.
- Complete minor construction projects including stations and facility repairs, corridor civil improvements, and railroad grade crossing repairs.
- Safely operate ride-on and/or handheld motorized equipment including but not limited to lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills.
- Transport, load, and unload material and equipment.
- Work safely and comply with any applicable railroad rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians to perform quality work in an efficient manner.
- Follow instructions from managers and execute planned work.
- Report any hazards or injuries and take immediate corrective action.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
- Respond as required to third party incidents and severe weather events and lead infrastructure cleanup activities.
- Perform additional construction and maintenance support duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the maintenance, construction, or railroad industries.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- General knowledge of construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations and maintenance, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
- Safety-focused and attention to detail to continuously perform high-quality work.
- Able to work outside in varying weather conditions.
- Able to lift, climb, push and/or bend for extended periods of time and the ability to lift objects with weights in excess of 50 pounds in a safe manner.
- Ability to work Monday - Friday (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM shift), nights, weekends, and/or an On-Call schedule.
- Able to speak, read, and write English at a High School level.
Preferred:
- Experience working around railroads or railroad operations and an understanding of rail engineering.
- Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety rules and regulations.
- Experience operating light-duty construction equipment.
- Some college or vocational training preferred.
