The Operations Center stands at the core of Brightline operations, communicating service changes with train dispatchers, station teammates, and others within the organization, updating passenger information systems, alerting operations leaders to escalated circumstances, and bridging departmental divides to keep the operation running smoothly.
Your Purpose
The Operations Center is the heart of Brightline, receiving and sending information to and from every area of the company. You will help keep that flow moving 24 hours per day. As an Operations Center Controller, you will communicate transportation plan updates to Train Dispatchers, coordinate communication between train crews, stations, ground transportation, and guest service, and provide timely and meaningful updates to passenger and teammate information systems. To be successful, you must possess a passion for both operations performance and hospitality.
Your Role
- Monitor real-time train operations on dispatch screens, radio channels, and via GPS.
- Communicate by telephone with the Dispatch Center to gather information and anticipate any impacts to train service.
- Execute communication protocols to notify Brightline departments of service interruptions.
- Operate software interfaces to update passenger and teammate information systems.
- Prepare delay, cancellation, and impact reports and service status briefings.
- Participate in routine operating department conference calls.
- Anticipate impacts to train service and develop efficient recommendations for recovery.
- Communicate essential information to field managers and senior leaders during service interruptions and accidents/incidents.
- Participate in drills and emergency simulations.
- Maintain incident and injury logs.
- Prepare nightly reports and assist with sending internal employee communications.
You:
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a dispatching or operations control center environment.
- You are comfortable working 12-hour shifts and working alone in an indoor, isolated environment.
- You are comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays as required by your schedule.
- You communicate efficiently and effectively with full fluency in the English language.
- Basic MS Excel, Word, Teams, and e-mail skills.
- You handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy.
- You maintain accurate documentation.
- You remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult situations.
- You provide responsive follow-up communication.
- You follow protocols but are comfortable deviating appropriately when circumstances change.
- You are accountable for your actions and expect accountability from others.
