JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Publications & Training, this role is responsible for writing descriptive manuals and guides for use in various technical publications. Duties will include, but are not limited to:  researching technical topics, writing documents for different audiences, and editing their own & other team member’s work for publication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension by creating high-quality documentation, guides, manuals, and tutorials.
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
  • Brainstorm with the development team to figure out how to simplify technical information for end-users by determining the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension
  • Review, proofread and/or edit content developed by other members of the Technical Publications team.
  • Collaborate with the technical writing, field service, and engineering teams to craft accurate documentation in conjunction with requirements and specifications.
  • Acquire working knowledge of Blue Bird Product lines and related service requirements by learning about the technical documentation and concepts adopted by our company.
  • Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Fluency in technical and common office software.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy.
  • Automotive technical acumen or high interest in acquiring.

 EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, business administration or technical writing.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Technical Writer.
  • 2+ years of experience using Microsoft Office suite.
  • 2+ years of experience using Adobe InDesign
