JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands-on process development laboratory experience at a fast-growing biotech company. As a Chemical Development Intern, you will support the BioCryst Development Team across a variety of efforts, including process chemistry, data generation, data analysis, and scientific writing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independent laboratory experimentation through process isolation
  • Perform Chromatographic purifications of reaction mixtures
  • Data generation/product identification of isolated products
  • Procedure write up of laboratory experimentation

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Completion of Organic Chemistry laboratory classes  
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator   
  • Self-starter who can work independently  
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust quickly as priorities change  
  • Team player who is willing to flex outside the prescribed role   
  • Passionate about communications  
  • Must be available to work 30-35 hours/week during the period of the summer internship
  • Must be in proximity to the Birmingham, AL office
