BGE, Inc. is looking for a Corporate Communications Manager to join us in our Houston location.

As a full-time member of the Marketing Team, the Communications Manager is responsible for the effective management of internal and external communication projects, including developing communications plans, writing creative content, collaborating with graphic designers, coordinating all deliverables, tracking requirements of the entire project team, and proactively identifying and mitigating any schedule risks.

The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to enhance the BGE employee experience through compelling storytelling, planning and executing strategic communications plans. This position works closely with our Corporate departments to develop robust communications programs in support of the company’s commitment to transparency.

In addition, the person in this position will serve  to create and manage external communications efforts, such as recruiting, public relations and website maintenance.

The position is not currently a supervisory role. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Support major project initiatives from both a strategic communications and tactical implementation perspective.
  • Implement and measure employee communications strategies and plans to drive employee alignment and engagement. Maintain an internal communications calendar.
  • Manage assigned communication projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all activities are effectively and efficiently coordinated and completed on time.
  • Develop and implement communication plans for all assigned projects, including authoring/editing content, as needed, and collaborating with graphic designers.
  • Incorporate a variety of mediums, including, but not limited to, SharePoint, Yammer, Teams and email to drive engagement and promote understanding of desired actions and outcomes.
  • Assist with the development and execution of the company’s vision and strategy, as well as change management and crisis communications.
  • Interview technical staff and write content for announcements, press releases, articles, blog posts, presentations, scripts, speeches and award submissions.
  • Implement strategies for updating website content and monitor analytics.
  • Create and maintain a consistent voice for all communication materials.
  • Interpret and synthesize complex information clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or another applicable field.
  • Minimum of 10+  years of experience.
  • Experience with internal and/or external communications program including planning, execution and measurement.
  • Stellar writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate point of view clearly and concisely on complicated topics.
  • Familiarity with AP and technical style.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a focused listener able to work quickly, thoughtfully and collaboratively with different personalities.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments from conception to completion on deadline with minimal supervision; excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with SharePoint preferred.
  • Understanding of video, with the ability to storyboard, develop script content and provide art direction to talent and production team.
  • Periodic travel to various BGE office locations is required.
