Berkshire is looking for a strong IT generalist.The Senior Information Technology Specialist position reports to the Coordinator of Technology Support and supports technical support operations for the agency. This position provides technical support for employees of Berkshire statewide and contributes to the deployment, maintenance, and administration of IT systems that support these operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance to Berkshire employees statewide on using computers and software programs, including resolving user's help desk calls. Documents all issues and resolution, complete work, and forward to other information technology staff as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoots and performs various technical computer and peripheral repair duties that include but are not limited to server backup operations, identification, and replacement and repair of components.
  • Administers Office 365, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Azure Active Directory.
  • Assist with the administration and support of the Berkshire network as necessary.
  • Assist with the administration and support of the Agency surveillance system as necessary.
  • Onboards new employees, ensuring they receive their accounts, phones, and computers on time and in proper working order.
  • Installs and configures technology and accounts of networked computer users, e.g., computers, cell phones, printers, peripheral communications equipment, and software.
  • Create self-help knowledge articles for the community on technology in use by the agency.
  • Document IT procedures and practices to ensure consistency across technology support staff.
  • Work with other IT staff and the Compliance office on internal audits and investigations.
  • Train and support staff on properly using equipment and technology systems.
  • Assist with information security planning and incident response.
  • Serve as backup for other members of the operations team during times of illness/vacation.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus five years of related experience.
    • Bachelor's requirement may be substituted for relevant certificates such as Network+, MCSE, or other Microsoft/networking.
    • The Bachelor's requirement may be substituted for 10+ years of directly related experience.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 is a plus.
  • Experience managing MS Intune for MDM is a plus.
  • Experience with Aruba/HPE/Meraki Networking is a plus.
  • Experience working in a Health care or other HIPAA-compliant operation is a plus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including on-call rotations. If a mission-critical issue arises, the on-call technician must be available to respond (compensated).  Must carry an agency cell phone and be reachable when on-call.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. 
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required to offsite locations to perform technology functions or for professional development.
  • Ability to work with, relate to, and service a diverse population with varying levels of technical skill.
