Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Group Operations Manager, the ROV Pilot/Technician performs a variety of tasks related to reporting and general ROV support for the Remote Sensing Technology Group.  The primary role of this position is to operate and maintain remotely operated vehicles.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical Associates Degree or technical trade school preferred
  • Commercial Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain preferred

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of one years’ experience working in electrical, electronic or mechanics
  • A minimum of one years’ experience operating small inspection class ROV's
  • The ability to work successfully as a team member
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • The ability to travel to project assignments around the country
  • Proven track record in ROV operations
  • Must be easy going, hardworking, have great communication skills, willing and able to work with clients, and field crews

Responsibilities:

  • ROV Piloting and Maintenance
  • Must be able to operate and performance maintenance on small vessels (less than 30 feet), including the ability to tow, launch and recover vessels
  • Troubleshoot Basic electrical problems.
  • Overseeing and assisting with data processing and reporting efforts
  • Sonar Data Collection and Processing
  • Experience with both Fiber optic and Copper based systems
  • Coordinating, and conducting field operations
  • Analyze objectives and specifications to prepare reports
  • Maintaining ROV’s in good operating condition

Physical Demands/ Working Environment:

  • Outside/at sea/mobilized, frequently working on or near moving and vibrating equipment up to 50% of the time
  • Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 10 F degrees) temperatures
  • Work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands
  • Ability to remain outdoors for long periods of time in various seasons and conditions
  • Work will take place around water; working on small vessels and barges off and near shore; including near or on moving and vibrating equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 to 100 pounds for short distances
  • Ability to wear personal protective clothing and equipment including, but not limited to, respirators and fall protection
  • Workdays may consist of 12+ hours a day, including nights and weekends depending on project schedule needs
