Job Summary:
Responsible for the safe and effective operation of computerized mobile cranes. Will operate a stationary or traveling crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. They will receive direction from riggers and/or site supervision via verbal or hand signals to determine required load movement.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and productive crane, including performing routine maintenance
- Inspect work sites to ensure safety of workers
- Support structures operations, including but not limited to, forming substructure, setting steel and concrete girders, and placing reinforced concrete decks
- Check radius and set up of crane before operations begin
- Provide Input on lift plans and means and methods
- Work closely with foreman on issues of safety and toolbox talks
- Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections and be responsible for basic maintenance of crane and rigging associated with operations.
- Notify appropriate chain of command of any defaults with crane or rigging.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Five (5) years of verifiable experience operating cranes
- 3-5 years’ experience in Heavy Civil Projects and Pile Driving
- Prior experience leading crews is strongly preferred
- Must have prior experience in rigging and signaling and bridge operations
- Experience operating additional equipment is strongly preferred
- Prefer OCONUS experience operating equipment in an environment with military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elements
- Additional experience and education requirements may vary by assignment.

Skills & Certifications:
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manor (verbal and written)
- Able to read and understand heavy construction plans
- Able to work in a team environment
- Works well must work in a high demand environment
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards in crane operations
- Equipment Operator training and certificate from National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), verifiable military or civilian Equipment Operator training from construction field, or related certification issued by a previous employer
- Ability to obtain, through evaluation, the certification to operate computerized mobile cranes up to eighty (80) tons
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Demands/Working Environment
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled
- Ability to remain outdoors for long periods of time in various seasons and conditions.
- Climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time.
- Long hours and exposure to strenuous conditions
- Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night/weekend)
