Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a Component Improvement Program (CIP) Project Engineer to support the Aviation Turbine Engine Project office (ATE PO). This position is based in Huntsville, AL.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Interface and work in the Aviation Turbine Engines Project Office (ATE PO), T700/T55 Product Office, with the T55 Engine Lead, stakeholders, warfighters, airworthiness authority, maintainers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and various offices/agencies.
- Provide technical analyses, program management services, and fiscal management for T55 Component Improvement Program (CIP) and Army Working Capital Fund (AWCF) Projects.
- Generate Contract Requirements Packages (CRPs) for T55 engine requirements.
- Review and advise ATE PO on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Variance (RFVs), Post Award & Intercept Database (PAID) Requests, and maintenance procedures related to the Chinook helicopter powerplant system.
- Review and advise ATE PO on technical manual changes, 2028 Pubs Change Requests, Safety of Flight Messages (SOFMs), Aviation Safety Action Messages (ASAMs), and Aviation Maintenance Action Messages (AMAMs).
- Perform project engineering efforts associated with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) CH-47 Engine Enhancement funding plus-ups and the Request For Information (RFI) development of alternate engines.
- Provide program management support, engineering, and technical support, and serve as an interface and liaison between the Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) and the ATE Project Manager's Office.
Required Experience:
- Over 10 years of experience.
- Experience in interfacing and working with diverse stakeholders including warfighters, airworthiness authorities, maintainers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and various project management offices such as Cargo Helicopters PMO and Technology Applications PO.
- Familiarity with the life-cycle management and production deliveries of aircraft powerplant systems, specifically the T55-GA-714A engine for H-47 Aircraft.
- Proficiency in providing technical analyses and program management services, especially in the context of the T55 Component Improvement Program (CIP) and Army Working Capital Fund (AWCF) Projects.
- Experience in generating Contract Requirements Packages (CRPs) for engine requirements.
- Ability to review and advise on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Variance (RFVs), and other technical documentation related to the powerplant system of Chinook helicopters.
- Experience in advising on technical manual changes, Pubs Change Requests, Safety of Flight Messages (SOFMs), Aviation Safety Action Messages (ASAMs), and Aviation Maintenance Action Messages (AMAMs).
- Involvement in project engineering efforts associated with National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) funding enhancements and the development of Requests For Information (RFI) for alternate engines.
- Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong program management, engineering, and technical support skills, serving as an interface and liaison between different departments and organizations, including the Aviation and Missile Center Systems Readiness Directorate and the ATE Project Manager’s Office.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with external agencies such as the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), and engine parts suppliers on cost, schedule, performance, and logistics support.
- Familiarity with the logistics and support structure of the T55 Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Logistics Center (ALC) and its implications on project management and product support.
