Job Description

Saw Operation:

  • Operate various types of saws (e.g., band saws, cold saws, chop saws). 
  • Set up and adjust saw blades and machines for different materials and cuts. 
  • Ensure accurate cuts by setting stops, guides, and using measuring tools. 
  • Monitor machine performance and identify potential issues. 

Quality Control:

  • Inspect finished parts for defects and ensure adherence to specifications. 
  • Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to verify dimensions. 
  • Report any quality issues to supervisors. 

Safety and Maintenance:

  • Follow established safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area. 
  • Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade changes and lubrication. 

Other Duties:

  • Load and unload materials for sawing, potentially using forklifts or cranes. 
  • Help pack and transport finished pieces. 
  • Maintain records of production and material usage. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. 
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members. 

Qualifications

  • Experience operating band saws, cold saws, chop saws and related equipment in a machine shop setting. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. 
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations. 
  • Basic math skills for setting stops and guides. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials. 
  • Saw operator certification a plus. 

Salary range: $22 - $26/hour
