Requirements
Currently enrolled student of Auburn University
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0
Must obtain and maintain a current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Job Duties
Lead a safe and effective group fitness class specified by the general or specialty certification training
Adhere to the guidelines outlined within the certification agency for delivering a class that represents the specialty certification obtained
Maintains a current CPR certification
Follow the dress code outlined in the Group Fitness Instructor manual
Connect with participants attending class to create an atmosphere that cultivates long-term participation
Promote Group Fitness events through social media and class announcements
Participate in Marketing promotional campaigns
Utilize the appropriate equipment for the specific format and teach safe practices for use
Set a good example for fitness and health for the Auburn community
Arrive 15 minutes prior to teaching class and be available 15 minutes after ending class
Understand and utilize technology for class set up and check-in, to include use of iPads, Bluetooth, sound system, mics, etc.
Follow procedures for finding a substitute instructor for normal assigned group fitness class
Follow procedures for playing music and wearing microphones
Follow room procedures for providing a clean and safe environment and for equipment maintenance
Attend all staff trainings/orientations at the beginning of each semester
Attend 3-4 monthly meetings each semester
Be willing to substitute teach for other instructors if available
Communicates with professional staff and stays up to date with Group Fitness programming
Preparation before class delivery: prepare a lesson plan, playlist, choreography, and motivational message
Develop and deliver new lesson plans, playlists, choreography, and motivational messages throughout the semester
Mentor other instructors and assist with training after teaching successfully for a semester
