Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Production Laborer VA I to be based out of Santa Paula, CA. Reporting to Production Manager, this person will be responsible for performing production work that includes assembling finished product, inspecting product to ensure quality as well as operating, tending, stopping, and cleaning the machines.
The ideal candidate will have a one (1) year experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you’ll do:
- Assist with the production line
- Load and unload parts from machine
- Feed or place items onto equipment for processing
- Ensure conformance to quality specifications
- Pull damaged or non-conforming parts off the line
- Scrap waste material from parts
- Read and interpret gauges
- Clean, sweep, mop and remove debris from production area daily
- Be able to work with daily production schedule
- Take instruction from production supervisors, lead and coordinator
- Read and understand the department metrics
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) year of production experience in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and effective control standards
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance
- Ability to interpret and execute standard works
- Ability to read, sort, check, county and verify numbers
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 60lbs
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment is a must
- Ability to familiarize and follow the 5S company program
- Ability to work independently and in a team when necessary.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete your Atkore immersion program
- Understand your team and your role within the team and how it will help delivery Atkore’s strategy
- Understand departmental Standard work and Atkore’s policies and procedures
- Understand department metrics
- Assist with the product line and load/unload parts onto machine
Within 6 months, you’ll:
- Ensure parts conform to specifications, by identifying nonconforming parts and pulling off the line
- Work efficiently as a team within the department to meet the daily target goal
- To detect problems and report information as necessary
- Scrap waste material from product
- Read and interpret gauges
Within 12 months, you’ll:
- Ensure full adherence to 5S practices
- Follow department standard work procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental policies.
