1st Shift Machinist (Mon-Fri 7:00am – 3:00pm)
Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a 1st Shift Machinist to be based out of New Bedford, MA. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining lathe and milling machines, grinders, and basic hand tools.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience working in the Machinist trade and has basic knowledge of CNC technology and the manufacturing industry.
What you’ll do:
Machinist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain lathe and milling machines on small parts holding to close tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
- Be able to run 3 axis CNC and Lathe on basic parts (setting up tool path and selecting tools a plus)
- Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines.
- Examine and measure completed units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjust machine controls to resolve production errors.
- Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
- Select appropriate machine and settings for all given tasks.
- Plan proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
- Maintain inventory of completed products. Package and ship needed parts to other locations.
- Check output for quality assurance and documents or discard defects.
- Inspect machinery for any needed repairs; perform minor repairs with expertise.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Complete some minor tasks on the manufacturing floor such as drilling and tapping for guarding.
- Comply with safety standards and regulations.
- Dismantle and Rebuild tooling assemblies to close tolerances.
- Assist in major repairs in ECFC plants under the direction of engineering.
- When needed marking up existing prints or documents for new revisions.
- Preform some overtime when needed to complete business needs.

What you’ll bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Over 5 years of experience working in the Machinist trade.
- Must have a basic understanding in Master CAM or Feature CAM.
- Must have a basic understanding in Auto Cad.
- Good coordination and mechanical skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with math.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
- Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
- Working knowledge of safety protocols.
- Apprenticeship or vocational training required.
- Must have the basic tools and measuring devices for shop jobs.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete any required training.
- Have developed relationships within the department.
- Be well-versed in priorities and the importance of your role to daily operations.
