Welder - Day Shift - $21.00/hour
Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Welder I to be based out of Houston, TX. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Welder I will be responsible for welding various cable tray products. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you’ll do:
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
- Perform setup, adjustments and operation of welding machines within the department
- Ability to use basic fabricating tools (i.e. tape measure)
- Interpret drawings and fabricate based off blueprints
- Fabricate per customer requirements adhering to specifications
- Actively participate in Atkore’s safety program
- Cross train in different areas of the shop as required
- Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment

What you’ll bring:

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
- Technical School Welding Certificate (preferred)
- 6+ months welding experience
- Ability to work scheduled hours Monday-Friday
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to squat, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and work a 10-hour shift in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed

Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the plant environment can be loud. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protectors, hi-visibility uniforms, and metatarsal steel-toed work boots.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete any required training
- Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
- Be well-versed in Atkore’s Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
