Job Summary

As a Door Welder you will be welding in the Flat position using a semi-automatic FCAW process.

  • 1/16” in Wire diameter
  • Single Bevel
  • Root opening 0-8mm
  • Length of weld is 285”
  • Thickness Ranges from 1-1.5”
  • Side A and B is 5/16” fillet weld for cap.
  • Contour of finished fillet weld is flat using angle grinder
  • Side B is back gouged using Air carbon arc gouging. Electrode size is 3/8”-1/2”
  • Expected to hold no more than 2.5% Defect rate and no less than 50% First pass Yield
  • Expected to work with and around 1-2 other Door welders on the same groove

Qualifications and Skills

  • Hard skills
    • Experience: 5 Year Welding
    • Certifications: Vertical FCAW. 1” in Thickness. Side bend / Visual
    • Must understand and know all Weld Procedures and Weld Maps
    • Must be able to train according to Weld Procedures and Weld Maps
    • Technical Skills

    • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Core Responsibilities
    • Proficiently perform flat welding
    • Proficiently operate torch
    • Lay-out and mark weld points
    • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications using measuring devices
    • Complete and maintain all required records
    • Proficiently perform air carbon arc gouge
    • Perform multi-pass welding
    • Coach and train lower-level welders
    • Proficiently read blueprints
    • Maintain attendance within acceptable standards
  • Safety Activities
    • Be aware of and observe all safety practices.
    • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
    • Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
