McConway & Torley is looking for a Foundry Supervisor.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
What you’ll do:
- Manage and develop employees
- Manage the cost of the department
- Train the employees on core making, core setting, mold making
- Manage continual improvement
- Maintain the department with a “5S” philosophy
- Track and approve hourly employee time sheets
- Reduce/eliminate core and mold scrap
- Assist maintenance with maintaining all core and mold equipment
- Schedule core tooling repair/cleaning
- Be professional when conducting business for the Company
- Be knowledgeable of the Company’s ISO program
- Manage core inventory
- Manage core room schedule based on weekly molding schedule
- Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned
- Learns basic operation of KW and core machine controls
- Learns basic green sand quality parameters and their effects on casting quality
- Learns basic casting quality defects
- Learns to manually jog KW components
- Learns how to perform visual quality inspections on molds, patterns, cores, and core boxes
- Learns to radio communicate with melt work lead and supervisor
- Learns how to perform against documented standard work
- Learn to communicate with Maintenance on KW
- Learns casting nomenclature, product names, and consumables associated with each product
- Audits employees against standard work and mold set-up sheets
- Learns and uses correct PPE based on hazard assessment
- Engaged and motivated to meet commitments on work product
- Learns and uses correct PPE based on hazard assessment
- Follows all corporate policies and procedures
What you’ll need:
- High School degree or equivalent or three (3) years manufacturing experience; an undergraduate degree or equivalent (desired but optional
- Some leadership experience required
- Must have the ability to function and communicate in a team setting
- Must be punctual, predictable, and have regular attendance
- Must be able to stand for long durations
- Must be tolerant to extreme temperatures
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a good attitude and be adaptable to changes
Working Conditions:
- Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
- This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
