The Church of the Little Flower is seeking a full-time director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry (DRE). The Pastor of Little Flower Church is the immediate supervisor of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Pastor and the Parochial Vicar, this person will manage the faith formation of the students in the religious education program.
  • The director will coordinate the sacramental preparation for our parish and school children in kindergarten through eighth grade. This includes the scheduling, planning, record keeping, and communication of all aspects of our sacramental preparation. Sacraments especially include First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. Parent involvement is essential to our preparation.
  • The director is responsible for identifying, recruiting, educating, and mentoring catechists in addition to supporting and supervising a part-time Administrative Assistant.
  • The director will also plan and cultivate an educational and social program for our parish high school students, along with the Parochial Vicar.
  • The director will serve as a member of the parish staff, attending all staff meetings, and maintain a good working relationship with all employees and parishioners of the parish.
  • The director will communicate and coordinate with the Archdiocese of Washington for policy, curriculum standards, and safe environment requirements.

Education Requirements:

  • MA in Religious Education, Theology, or comparable.

Job qualifications:

  • A minimum and at least 2 years parish experience as a catechetical leader.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Finalsite.
  • The qualified candidate must be highly organized, demonstrate strong leadership abilities, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be in full communion with the Catholic Church and deeply committed to Catholic doctrine and practice.
