Position Summary

The perfect candidate will oversee project planning, coordination, and execution, aligning with customer specifications, project requirements, timelines, and scope. Their responsibilities encompass quantitative take-off tasks, understanding specifications, obtaining material prices, estimating costs, handling proposal work, and nurturing customer relationships. Additionally, they will adeptly track and communicate project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

Responsibilities related to Project Manager Role: (Included but not limited to)

  • Responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal laws and statutes regarding taxes, labor laws, OSHA, MSHA, and government department regulations.
  • Recommend supervision changes to the Construction Manager and Project Manager when and where necessary.
  • Provide feedback to the project staff regarding their expectations and performance.
  • Ensure the ethical and prudent operations of the project for the Company.
  • Identify safety problems on the job and stop work if the problem cannot be resolved without risk of injury.
  • Assist in managing start of work for subcontractors and help monitor their performance.
  • Conduct meetings with the other PM’s and site management team to keep them informed on those matters that affect the successful performance of the jobs.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with Internal & External customers.
  • Oversee the execution of industrial paint coatings to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Build, plan, manage and report project controls as required for each project. Including but not limited to writing reports, monitor budgeted project expenditures, monitor cash flow of the project, report tracking and updating project progress, prepare financial reports for reporting to management.

Responsibilities related to Estimating Role: (Included but not limited to)

  • Read and comprehend bid inquiries, specifications (client and material PDS), drawings and contract requirements.
  • Attend pre-bid and pre-award meetings.
  • Perform accurate quantitative take-offs utilizing estimating software (MIKE, etc..)
  • Ability to review and check quantities & take-offs of others
  • Develop an accurate estimated cost which includes understanding project requirements, securing material prices, generating material and labor unit prices, cost extensions and summarizing costs for presentation to Management Team (President, Director of Estimating, Branch Manager, etc.)
  • Generate a comprehensive proposal including all information requested by the customer's inquiry. Use appropriate alternates to supplement the base bid.
  • Communicate with customers before and after proposal submittal.
  • Have sufficient organization and time management skills to work on several estimates to meet due dates.
  • Attend kick-off meeting between estimating, project management and construction departments once a project is secured to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project management to construction.
  • Evaluate pricing structures to determine the best value for the projects ranging from $5,000 up to $ 30,000,000 in size
  • Develop schedules, flow charts, organization charts and other proposal submittal documents to support proposal details
  • Reading, deciphering and understanding customer inquiries, project specifications & documents, and subcontracts
  • Develop an accurate estimated cost which includes understanding project requirements, securing material prices, generating material and labor unit prices, cost extensions and summarizing costs that meet customers’ requirements and expectations
  • Complete Owner / Customer Score Cards, RFP Score Cards and Job Approval Slip.
  • Attend Monthly Operation Reviews (MOR’s).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management; related degree; or at least 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or has the equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • PC skills with experience in Estimating software programs such as Comput-Ability, (MIKE)-Mechanical Insulation Key Estimator, Microsoft office products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project and Outlook are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly verbally and in writing

Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions

This position is primarily office-based and most work is done in an office environment. Occasionally this position may require site visits to active construction sites. On a construction site, the employee may be required to climb ladders and walk in areas under construction. While on construction sites, the employee must wear proper protective equipment such as a hard hat, eye and hearing protection, high visibility vest, etc. The employee must be familiar with all company safety equipment and is required to follow company safety procedures, prior to entering the construction site.

Equipment used for the job: Construction site visits may require: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, High Visibility Vest, Steel Toe Boots, FRC’s, Etc.

Other: Valid state-issued driver’s license and a safe driving record are required to operate a company vehicle.
