General Purpose: Responsible for operating crane (hydro, crawler, and lattice cranes) to hoist, move and place materials and drive piling
Work Schedule: Days and hours vary depending on the assigned project.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Operate levers and pedals to raise, lower and rotate the boom and raise and lower load lines
- Raise, lower and rotate boom or load by sight or according to signals from a helper
- Observe rigging operations and safety of the load
- Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
- Perform daily inspections of cranes
- Monitor weather conditions and site conditions
- Clean, maintain and lubricate equipment
- Obtain any required permits
- Crane operator should be responsible at all times when operating a crane
- Crane operator should be versatile and have a cooperative attitude as they may be asked to do other jobs on construction sites when they are not operating a crane
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent GED. Applicable certifications required
Required Experience
- Minimum of 6 months experience, one year certificate from a technical school or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications
- Valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles.
- Certified crane operator certification
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s, ability to perform these operations using unit weight measurements and volumes.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Workers should be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
