POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the designated Nurse Manager, the Staff Nurse is responsible for professional, direct patient care in the nurse role. The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process within their scope of practice to assess, develop nursing diagnosis, develop plan of care, implement plan of care, monitor for effectiveness, and adjust appropriately, for patient’s plan of care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for care, in areas assigned, within the Surgery Center, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
• RN with active license, no restrictions (license in appropriate state)
• One (1) year of nursing experience, preferably, in an ambulatory surgery center
• CPR certification and/or ACLS-PALS certification (as required by Center)
• Strong ethical and moral character references
• Basic computer skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Obtains and documents patient’s medical history and perform physical assessment
• Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice and center policies and
procedures
• Ability to apply dressings and assess status
• Ability to safely use medical equipment per manufacturer’s instructions for use
• Ability to insert, assess, or discontinue various catheters and tubes
• Effectively organizes and avoids wasteful practices of time, equipment, and supplies
• Observes universal precautions
• Attends all required education
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned
