Lancaster Gastroenterology Procedure Center believes in face-to-face, compassionate medicine, where patients feel reassured and unrushed. We specialize in colorectal cancer screening and the treatment of various diseases involving the digestive tract. For nearly 40 years, our experienced physicians have dedicated themselves to caring for their neighbors in South Central Pennsylvania.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets patients and provides comfort and reassurance to the patient.
  • Introduces self to patient and verbally validates the procedure.
  • Supports the patient’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop, plan, deliver, and execute patient’s plan of care during postoperative period.
  • Assists the patient, if necessary, with dressing
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate post-operative/post-anesthesia period.
  • Assesses and legibly documents the patients’ physical and emotional status upon arrival in the recovery room.
  • Develops a plan of care for the patient based on patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia.
  • Monitors and reports any abnormal observed complications to the RN, Anesthesia provider, and physician, as appropriate.
  • Assesses the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge.
  • Reviews postoperative instructions and prescriptions from the physician with patient and caregiver and legibly documents in patient’s medical record.
  • Uses equipment effectively following manufacturer’s instructions for use.
  • Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of PACU area.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Attends all required education.

Position Qualifications

  • Current LPN/LVN Certifications
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN Program
  • BLS/ACLS Certification
  • 1 year relevant experience
