Endoscopy Center of the Upstate is an outpatient endoscopic facility specializing in colorectal cancer screening and the treatment of various diseases involving the digestive tract. We are currently searching for Part-Time Endoscopy Technician to work Mondays – Fridays who can work cooperatively with staff and physicians and perform a variety of tasks. Major responsibilities include: cleaning procedure rooms; assisting physicians; processing scopes; restocking and changing over rooms; performing housekeeping duties and assisting in maintenance of all supplies.
You must possess a HS school diploma/GED and a BLS certification.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the Center, in accordance with established procedures. Functions cooperatively with physicians and team members exhibiting teamwork characteristics. May be responsible for ensuring proper care and use of instruments and equipment. May transport patients to and from procedure room. Assists with cleanliness of procedure room area and assists with room turnover.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification
- One (1) year experience as a endoscopy technologist (preferred)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Following manufacturer’s instructions for use to complete testing to ensure functional operation of all endoscopy equipment in the reprocessing room/suite
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure, to include but not be limited to, assembling and verifying properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments
- Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area (e.g., shelves, counters, equipment)
- Performs pre-cleaning in compliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use at the patient’s bedside immediately following procedure
- Transport soiled scopes to the decontamination area completely covered in a closed impervious container
- Performs leak testing in compliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use
- Performs manual cleaning processes for scope and accessories in compliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use
- Follows manufacturer’s instructions for use to flush all scope channels with enzymatic detergent, water, and air
- Performs quality control of Minimum Effective Concentration (MEC) test strips following manufacturer’s instructions for use
- Performs Minimum Effective Concentration (MEC) testing in compliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use of high level disinfectant
- Follows the manufacturer’s instructions for use loads scopes into the basin attaching channel adapters appropriately
- Programs Automated Endoscopic Reprocessor (AER) appropriately according to manufacturer’s instructions for use
- Verifies and documents cycle completion
- Ensures proper storage of scope within thirty (30) minutes of cycle completion
- Ensures decontamination of flushing devices (as appropriate) and shutdown procedures for all reprocessing room equipment per Centers policies and procedures
- Replenishes High Level Disinfectant (HLD)
- Ensure completion of all required documentation in relation to reprocessing of endoscopy equipment per centers policy and procedures
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
