Job Responsibilities:

This position sets the strategy for and leads the development of innovative initiatives as they relate to Augmented/Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in dentistry. The individual is responsible for monitoring trends, exploring market solutions, assisting in business decisions to develop or acquire products/services, evaluating federal legislation and regulations to guide establishment of Association policies as it relates to AI. The individual will be responsible for leading cross-divisional teams to develop strategy, business plans, identify viable market solutions to establish the ADA as a leader in the dental AI space. The individual will also be responsible for building the necessary data science infrastructure to support AI applications for dentistry. The individual will oversee existing programs such as the ADA’s Dental Experience and Research Exchange (DERE) and the Dental Quality Alliance (DQA) to ensure synergy between existing and new programs.

Must Have:

  • Doctoral Level degree; DDS or DMD or PhD in Biological or Biomedical Sciences or Business or Health Sciences or Information Systems
  • 12 years of experience in health services research, scientific research, electronic health records or dental informatics along with some business experience; or 15 years experience in lieu of PhD
  • Experience must includes strategic planning, business plan development, managing vendors, expert panels, analyzing reports, program development, writing reports and papers and project planning
  • Excellent organizational, oral & written communication, planning and public speaking skills

  • Experience in leading groups to achieve consensus
  • Knowledge of Health IT data infrastructure landscape, emerging technology standards, and data structures
  • Working knowledge of practice management systems
  • Ability to independently initiate and complete projects
  • Attention to detail and reliable follow through
  • Able to work independently and also in teams with multiple internal and external collaborators
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Some evening/weekend work
  • Travel 10-25% - conference and meetings to present information on the ADA programs. Collaborate with stakeholders to advance the ADA’s strategic initiatives

Nice to Have:

  • Project management including managing subject matter expert to achieve program objectives and deliver value
  • Specific experience within the data science or artificial intelligence arena
  • Knowledge of AI engines or machine learning
