PRIMARY DUTIES:

Ensure the implementation of students’ IEP objectives and record and collect corresponding data; accurately document progress and needs related to goals and write progress reports.

Provide direct physical therapy services to students according to IEP goals for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established practices and procedures

Instruct, counsel and supervise students or individuals in: recreation, daily living skills, personal care, self-advocacy, vocational training and gross motor skills identified in IEP.

Assist students in achieving goals by maintaining knowledge of their learning styles, strengths and needs and ensuring that skills are taught; accordingly, notify appropriate staff of problems; maintain a safe learning environment.

Communicate effectively and positively with professional staff and individuals associated with student’s services, in a collaborative team effort and attend team meetings when appropriate andas directed by PT.

Support student within Community Inclusion activities for recreation & education, etc., as indicated by student interests and IEP objectives.

Support school and department wide health, wellness, and fitness initiatives by creating programming, facilitating activities, and providing additional support as needed to involved team members

Assist Physical Therapist in providing students with physical therapy treatments and procedures.

Collaborate with Physical Therapist in the completion of reevaluations and the development of treatment plans.

Communicate with Physical Therapist when student’s status changes and requires modifications to the plan of care.

Participate in Supervision meetings with the Physical Therapist.

Participate and assist with all cleaning and proper therapy equipment management protocols for maintenance of therapy space to ensure staff and student safety.

Works required days & hours.
Completes monthly reports and collapses data for assigned students.
Follows all time-keeping policies and procedures; dependable and punctual.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 Experience working with children with autism and developmental delays preferred.

LICENSE:

Must be a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Massachusetts.
