ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

  • Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
  • Work with Set-up employees, Applications Technicians and Specialists and Toolmakers to develop processes with SPC and verify data to assure part quality during set-up and production runs
  • Carefully determine daily conformance of parts to customer specifications using inspection tools, SPC data, etc.
  • Communicate with supervisors, operators, managers and other departments as required regarding product quality issues
  • Download data, print charts, verify data and approve product for shipment
  • Work to shorten all QC checks using SPC as bases, to minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain proper records as to test results
  • Train operators in use of measurement system and equipment, including capabilities of different measurement equipment types
  • Provide data analysis and management for the department including long term performance studies and capability studies using AEC’s measurement systems and procedures
  • Take appropriate measures to improve quality levels
  • Assist in maintaining and operating calibration system

  • Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent degree
    • Associates degree in Machine Tool Technology or related program preferred
  2. Experience:
    • 3+ years of machining production experience
  3. Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
    • Ability to establish quality assurance (QC) practices
    • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to recognize safety concerns
    • Ability to utilize the proper inspection and measurement equipment
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong coordination, judgment and project management skills
    • Basic math skills
    • Strong blueprint reading skills with a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
    • Knowledge of Brown and Sharpe
    • An understanding of PC-DMIS CMM software is helpful
