The Air Force Research Laboratory is the primary scientific research and development center for the Department of the Air Force. AFRL plays an integral role in leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for our air, space, and cyberspace force.

In order to meet current and projected workload requirements in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory Integration & Operations (AFRL/RS) Directorate, the Government must augment its organic (military and civil service) capabilities with knowledge and experience of Advisory & Assistance Services (A&AS) support. We are seeking a Media Communications Specialist to assist with this important initiative.

An active Secret clearance and ability to support at the client site M-F core business hours is required.

Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Create, review, edit, and produce final media products via PowerPoint, Word, or any other applicable application to ensure consistent and correct outward messaging is communicated for AFRL/RS

  • Ability to support AFRL/RS leadership to capture, store, and document outward messaging and/or changes to existing campaign messaging.

  • Archive all necessary public/media documents to AFRL SharePoint or designated online knowledge management application.

  • Ability to develop and design engaging visual effects to convey messages and ideas to an intended audience. Content will include simple to realistic animations, motion graphics & renderings. Creative innovative graphic products to include technology program logos/branding, designs, and sample layouts for online or print content. Some print products will require large format printing as well as knowledge and precision of vinyl sign cutting.

  • Create AFRL marketing materials which include supporting the design and procurement of marketing, branding, and recruitment presentations and materials to include event items promoting the Air Force Research Laboratory by adhering to established branding guidelines published in AFRL brand book when preparing all marketing materials.

  • Support graphics services which include providing artwork, custom signs, headers, posters and display related products to include: camera ready text, single page, tri-fold and multi-page brochures, photographs, photographic manipulation, original artwork, black and white and multicolored illustrations, and two and three dimensional perspective illustrations. Also includes editing, copying, mounting, and laminating as needed to support the display/exhibit. Additionally, integrate into the display any customer supplied multi-media products and provide the government the original layered graphic file upon completion of each graphic work order.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • BS degree with at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related field area of equivalent.

  • Knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.

  • Proficiency with Corel Draw, Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk 3ds Max, and Microsoft Office Suite is strongly desired.

  • A wide degree of proven creativity and latitude

  • Ability to use judgment within limits of standard practice. Experience supporting assignments that are complex, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

  • Active Secret security clearance
