Summary:
The Systems Analyst is responsible for developing real-time reports. This position will:
1) review the logic for existing National Cancer Database (NCDB) reports deemed ready for real-time.
2) review prototype reports written in SAS by the statisticians.
The Systems Analyst will work in a unit comprised of the Senior Manager of Statistics and Analytics, the Manager of Systems and Analytics, and the Systems Analyst to utilize industry-standard rules-engine software for logical expression writing in real-time reporting and SAS to develop test sets, ad hoc reports, and other queries to the NCDB. The Systems Analyst will work under guidance from the Manager of Systems and Analytics with InRule in the DEV environment and conduct unit tests in both irVerify and SAS, promoting real-time report logic to the TEST environment. The Systems Analyst will maintain and develop all SAS scripts for both unit and end-to-end systems testing from generated mesh tables. While working in both the DEV and TEST environments, the Systems Analyst will document progress with the NCDB Project Manager and technology vendor in preparation for a move to PROD.
This position is required to develop user templates of design and functionality to the technology partner. They will execute demonstrated technical approaches while maintaining periodic updates to existing logic. The Systems Analyst will work under guidance from senior-level staff and closely with the Statisticians, NCDB IT staff, and Customer service staff, and will contribute to ancillary support documentation.
This exempt position will report to the Manager of Systems and Analytics in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- 6 months to a year of experience as a systems analyst or similar role is preferred.
- Experience with either programming or query language (like SAS, SQL, Python, R, etc.), and familiarity with relational database environments in real-time environments is required.
- Rules engine software knowledge (InRule) is preferred.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies is a plus.
