Job Title: Supervisor, Program

Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Supervisor of the Program uses specialized knowledge in the education of K-12 students, along with skills obtained through experience and/or formal training to provide a safe learning environment and engage students in academic, recreation and enrichment activities at multiple school locations. Routine contact with schools and partner agencies is required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to the grant contract, including the maintenance of all program data/records
  • Hire, schedule and supervise staff
  • Oversee the operation of the program, including the supervision and coaching of the site leaders
  • Meet regularly with the site leaders to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the program
  • Assist in the evaluation of the program using MSU evaluation materials or a YPQA: Youth Program Quality Assessment tool
  • Determine need and arrange for professional development
  • Develop operational policies and practices for the program in cooperation with site leaders, youth and other program staff, as appropriate
  • Produce, with the assistance of the site leaders, monthly activity calendars and daily schedules
  • Manage standards of behavior for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students
  • Assist with events related to after school programming, as necessary
  • Attend regular staff trainings, orientations and professional development
  • Follow all DHHS and CACFP regulations, including safety procedures
  • Ensure regular communication with parents on child’s homework completion, activities and behavior
  • Work with program staff to distribute three newsletters to stakeholders per year
  • Send principals (and other school-day staff, as appropriate) a monthly program update
  • Submit supplies request forms in a timely manner for all activities/projects
  • Plan, assign, monitor and manage the work of others
  • Review performance and evaluate results achieved by subordinates
  • Coach and mentor subordinates
  • Interpret, apply and recommend changes to organizational policies and procedures
  • Review progress of assignments with senior management
  • Balance conflicting resource and priority demands
  • Maintain currency in educational techniques pertaining to K-12 education
  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • School curricula, Common Core, assessments and teaching methodology/best practices
  • Program and project management

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives
  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    • Elementary or Secondary Education, Child Guidance/Counseling or related field

  • At least 2-3 years of experience working in a leadership capacity
  • At least 2 years of experience in an educational setting
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licenses/Certifications Required at Date of Hire:
    • Teaching certificate preferred
  • Certifications Required:
    • Bloodborne pathogens training (must be completed at time of hire)
    • CPR/First Aid (must be completed within one month of hire)
    • 16 clock hours of training throughout the year (completed after hire)
    • May require Mandated Reporter certification
    • May require Abusive Head Trauma certification

Working Conditions:

Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required

Travel Required: None generally required; Local, in-state, national, and international travel, up to _5_%
