The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). You will join NCBI’s team of scientists and engineers to deliver high-quality data to tackle the most challenging healthcare information technology issues including, data models, business informatics, analytics.

A-TEK is currently recruiting a User Interface (UI) Designer to support our work with the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The UI designer will design and shape unique, user-centric products and experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience working in agile teams, with developers, UX designers and copywriters. Responsible for making deliberate design decisions and to translate to the user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction.  This critical team member will participate in NCBI’s ongoing mission to use data to help cure some of the world's most serious health problems. Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • Interface and graphics styling, revisions, or improvements planning
  • Workflow and wireframe designs
  • Graphics
  • Style sheets and style sheet code ready for implementation
  • Other requested graphic or design elements
  • All related files

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Design, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UI design
  • Proficient with visual design programs
  • Experience creating storyboards and site mapping
  • Experience with coding and ability to troubleshoot using HTML, CSS and comparable languages
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust
